Ok I love this! I started a Book Club almost a year ago, and it’s not quite what I hoped for a few reasons. But I think it’s because maybe I don’t actually enjoy talking about books, just reading them? Long story short, I feel like craft club makes so much more sense. More opportunity to chat organically, and doing things with your hands is so good for the brain. When I hosted a bauble making party (inspired by yours), we had such a fun night. Thanks for the inspo Jessie x

I’ve always wanted to be a part of a book club because I love reading and hanging out with bookish people, but I hate not getting to pick out what I’m in the mood to read, being on a deadline to finish a book, or feeling like I need to remember details to talk about. So with some fellow mom friends who felt the same, we started a non book club book club! We all just share about what we’ve read, get recommendations for our tbr lists, and chat if we end up reading the same books. Basically an excuse to hang out once a month and be connected through books with absolutely no pressure!

I’m the reader who was hoping you’d share your tips for starting a Craft Club! I enjoyed this post so much (and even included it in my newsletter!). I’m hoping to get my Craft Club up and running at some point this spring! Thanks for the inspo!

I am so *not* crafty (a 3yo once told me I drew a rocket wrong)...but love reading about it. Also, your "pulled out of my ass" comment made me laugh out loud and think of statements that stick with us from growing up. :)

It’s definitely a core expression for me along with “polishing a turd” 🤣

I adore the idea of a crafting club! Where do you get frames for lampshade making? I've been searching for ages and can't find any in the US.

I will let you know if I find some. One option though is to go to a vintage store and buy old shades and reuse the frames.

OMG, Jessie! I could swear you were a hosting lover—it totally suits your personality! 😂 Also, I love the idea of having a group with friends I don’t see often to do some crafts. I’ll definitely try to start my own!

Love decorating for a party but not the other parts. Yes start a club. It’s the best.

I used to host a craft club where everyone just brought along their own individual projects to work on but I like the idea of everyone making the same project together. I’m not sure I can do it right now but saving the thought for the future!

That’s always fun too. Or if everyone is knitting they just sit and knit together. But yeah try a craft to do together one time. It’s so nice to work on the same thing while you chat.
