I am saving my daughter’s t-shirts from preschool, camps, school outings, her school plaid, etc to make a blanket when she graduates high school in 3 years (cue tears) I love your love of nostalgia, preservation and making a house a home! Thanks for the bright spot posts I so look forward to.

it is SOOO much cheaper to re-purpose fabric items than it is to purchase new yardage.

it is SOOO much cheaper to buy unembellished curtains and trim them yourself.

and one thing I hate - my sewing machine is a cantankerous old sow...

Haha! Well I find old sewing machines are SO much higher quality than the crappy new ones. The very old machine my mom had was so much nicer than all the crappy plastic ones I’ve had that have broken. I finally bought the PFaff one because I was so sick of the cheaper ones breaking.

So inspired! Would love to learn how to sew and use a sewing machine. Any recommendations for courses/resources? Thanks! Love your substack. 🤍

Where do you live? I know some good places in nyc. A course is such a great way to get started. Lmk.

I've admired the swimsuit quilt for a while and have been saving my kids' suits to do the same one day. What a great, sweet idea! And perfect for the beach.

So creative! Loved learning about all your projects. Do you mind sharing which rod you used for the under sink skirt? Contemplating doing something similar for open shelves in my bathroom.

I got this really cheap thin curtain rod at the hardware store. It’s very poor quality but I kind of love it because it basically disappears. I will try to look and see if I can find a similar one online.
