My wardrobe is a balance of basic items and the “wow” pieces that make an outfit stand out, look pulled together, or are very personal to my style. Below I share some of the wow pieces in my rotation these days and how I wear them.
1. A Statement Coat
I’ve said this for years: investing in a really special coat is like investing in a beautiful pair of boots. You will get so much use out of it and it will totally make your outfit. Especially when it’s cold outside, sometimes we don’t even take our coats off. This is a great opportunity to have one that is special, distinctive and turns heads.
The minute I saw this Wiggy Kit coat I had to have it. (It’s currently sold out, but our leopard print James jacket is a great alternate. I love it in mini maroon gingham, too.) I am such a sucker for leopard. I was pleased to note it’s made of velvet from the same Italian velvet manufacturer we use for our collection. This coat is also so wow and special with little embroidered flowers all over it.
2. A Wacky Trouser
I’m more and more into pants these days and I love these striped trousers from La Veste. They are bold, but the neutral colors make them easy to add into my outfits.
3. A ‘70s Boot
Our Cleo is a mix of basic and wow. The silhouette is chic and on-trend. We sold so many of these this year and I think next year we will sell even more. They are exactly what works with trendy pants and they are supremely comfortable. I love these underneath a roomy jean. I’m dying over this new exclusive dark brown suede color.
4. Statement Denim
I just got these Japanese jeans with an interesting hook/pleat detail and they feel like wow outfit makers and a staple all at once. I was able to order these through a friend who translated for me. The Cleo boot is SO perfect with these.
5. A Distinctive Belt
These belts have been flying off the shelves. They are an amazing price point and such statement makers. I can wear any old tee shirt and a pair of jeans, throw this on and instantly my outfit is an actual outfit. It’s so versatile but also a little flashy. A perfect combo. This matching studded clutch is also a tiny but mighty bit of wow.
6. Something Sheer

Playing peek-a-boo is an instant way to add interest to an outfit. This dress would be fun to layer over colorful tights with our black moiré pumps. These pants are distinctive with their Broderie detail, but also so super wearable. I’d really love a sheer layering crew neck I saw at Clic. but I can’t find it online.
7. Bold Tights & Socks
Take any plain dress in your closet and throw on a pair of bright red tights and suddenly it appears you’ve put a lot more thought into your outfit than you did. It becomes an outfit with a styling point of view. I buy these red tights from Amazon and brown tights at Bona Drag. Colorful socks look so cute poking out of loafers. I prefer these socks from Le Bon Shoppe. I have them in so many colors.
Speaking of wow… these jellies!
8. A Patterned Scarf

A lovely wow outfit maker is a vintage scarf tied over your head, like Strega Nona. I’m down for this Strega Nona fall trend. I got the stamps to use with our holiday mailings. I’m such a sucker for Tomie Depaola.

What wow pieces are you loving at the moment? I’m always on the lookout!
…And one thing I hate:
I hate how nervous and stressed I feel in this moment with the election so close. There is so much on the line. Here is a helpful link with information on polling locations, what’s on the ballot, and what’s at stake.
Wow. those jeans are SO good. Been thinking about buying those jellies.
Love the jeans -- what size did you get? I used google translate to translate the site into English and it looks like they only have size 38 left. Thank you.
